Willamette Valley is Oregon's main growing area. A travel trip or vacation to this region is better during the spring or even the summer. It comes alive with a sea of vegetables and fruit, not to mention the must try wines. Any trip to Willamette has to include some form of wine tasting.

Visitors are delighted by country lane markets, tiny vegetable/fruit stands in the middle of nowhere, covered bridges, gentle valleys and a warmth that attracts cyclists and hikers from all over. People take quick side trips to some two hundred local wineries. In fact, many of these offer dining facilities/wine tasting vacations.

The valley is dotted with lakes, waterfalls and rivers. Watersports are abundant, but the trails, specifically the Delta Old Growth Trail which is home to thousand year old trees, are so relaxing.

Willamette Valley is definitely unique. Its kaleidoscope is very European. As the markets emerge, the valley becomes almost over-run in a sea of flowers of all colors and sizes. Other must sees include the aviation museum, the cultural and history museum, the science place, an enchanted forest replica, a hand-carved carousel and a huge discovery type village. Just remember that camera and plenty of pocket change!
